St. Catharines , ON - Officials from the Niagara Health System and Hotel Dieu Health Sciences Hospital's Board of Trustees were advised last evening of the Minister of Health's decision to appoint a Minister's Designate to deliver recommendations to help resolve the restructuring issues in Niagara.
The Minister's designate, Mr. Dennis Timbrell, arrived in St. Catharines and met briefly meeting with Paul Leon, Chairman of the Niagara Health System Board of Trustees and Sean Jackson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Hotel Dieu Health Sciences Hospital.
Last week in their letter to the Minister, Messrs. Leon and Jackson expressed the willingness of the two hospital corporations to develop local solutions to implementing the Health Services Restructuring directions that mutually affect both hospitals as well as related issues.
"Mr. Timbrell has a wealth of experience in managing complex healthcare issues and will certainly provide us with a well-rounded perspective," said Mr. Jackson.
"We appreciate the opportunity to work with Mr. Timbrell, our administrations and the members of our medical staff to ensure quality patient care continues to be delivered at both hospitals," said Mr. Leon.
