Eves government commits to ER expansion at Greater Niagara General Site

Niagara Falls , ON - Niagara Falls residents and tourists will soon have faster access to hospital services with the approval to move forward with an estimated $18.5 million capital project at the Greater Niagara General hospital site of the Niagara Health Systems, Health and Long-Term Care Minister Tony Clement announced today.
"The Ernie Eves government is committed to ensuring that modern, state-of-the-art hospital facilities are available to Niagara Falls residents," Clement said. "With millions of tourists visiting every year, we need to ensure local residents have faster access to expanded emergency and patient care."
The hospital received ministry approval in principle for plans to expand its emergency and outpatient care departments. The project is estimated to cost $18.5 million. Details of the plans will be finalized shortly.
"This important investment will benefit people across the Niagara peninsula and ensure residents and visitors have greater access to excellent health care," said Tim Hudak, MPP, Erie-Lincoln.
"I'm delighted that the province is making such enormous investments in the Niagara Health System," said Bart Maves, MPP, Niagara Falls. "It's great that we are finally moving forward with this expansion."
"This much-needed capital project will enable us to meet the needs of our community by improving the way in which we provide emergency and outpatient care," said Debbie Sevenpifer, interim CEO and President of the Niagara Health System.
