Surgery - Inpatient and Day Surgery
This service provides care to the adult and paediatric community, requiring diagnostic procedures, surgical intervention and palliative care. By guiding the surgical patient through a safe and informative pre and post-operative period utilizing clinical pathways, we enable them to return to an optimum level of health.
In addition to our inpatient surgical units at Douglas Memorial, Greater Niagara, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Welland Sites, we offer Pre-Assessment/Pre-Op Clinics, Day Surgery and Minor Procedures and Endoscopy at these Sites and the Ontario Street Site.
The Case Management Program supports the continuum of care from pre-admission and hospital stays. Last year the NHS carried out 9,319 inpatient surgeries and 35,003 day surgeries.
